Pass ProCalc!

Follow these easy guidelines to complete ProCalc successfully:

1. Read and follow the rounding rules carefully; they are the same for every question.

2a. Round weight conversions (lbs to kg) to the nearest tenth of a kilogram, immediately, before you continue with further calculations.

2b. No other intermediate values should be rounded, only the final answer.

2c. In questions with two answers, where the second answer is to be derived from the first, use the rounded first answer to calculate the second answer.

3. Rounded answers do not require trailing zeros but, if you choose to add them, only the correct number of trailing zeros will be accepted.

eg. rounding to the nearest thousandth: 0.8 is acceptable, 0.800 is acceptable, 0.80 is not acceptable.

4. It is correct to show a zero before the decimal point if the value is zero:

eg. 0.8 is correct but .8 is common and will be accepted.

5. Use only numerical values or your answer will be marked wrong.

ie. do not type units (ml, kg, tsp, etc.) nor percent signs (%)

6. Always cancel down fractions and ratios:

eg. 7/10 is correct, 70/100 is not correct; 3:40 is correct, 15:200 is not correct

7. When you are rounding values between 1 and 10, 10-even (10.0) is the upper limit, therefore values of 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, etc. should be considered as being greater than 10.

8. You may use the “Back” button on the ProCalc question screen (not the browser “Back” button) to review your answers if you have time. Submit Q20 before reviewing.

9. If you make a change to a reviewed answer, you must click the “Submit Answer” button before continuing or your changes will not be saved.

10. Ask for clarification from lab staff if you are in any doubt about anything at all.
